The Ogden-Clearfield, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area is part of the Salt Lake City-Provo-Orem, Utah Combined Statistical Area. County of Box Elder
The Utah Territory legislature established the county on January 5, 1856, with territory partitioned from Weber County. Its borders were finally partitioned in 1866, when all of its land in the now-existing state of Nevada (which had obtained territorial status in 1861 and statehood in 1864) was formally partitioned. Adjustments between Salt Lake and Weber counties finally changed the county boundaries in 1880. Since 1880, its boundaries have remained constant.

Bear River City, Utah
Bear River City is a city located in Box Elder County, Utah. At the time of the 2010 census, the population was 853, up from 750 in 2000. Bear River was constituted as a city near the end of 2000.
Brigham City, Utah
Mormon pioneer William Davis explored the Brigham City area for the first time. He returned a year later with his family and others to establish permanent homes. Brigham Young commanded Lorenzo Snow in 1853 to bring additional settlers to the site and establish a self-sufficient city.
Corinne, Utah
It was the river’s final town before entering the marsh complexes that lead to the Great Salt Lake.
Corinne prospered as the unofficial “Gentile Capital of Utah” for nearly 10 years following its foundation on March 25, 1869.
Garland, Utah
Garland was founded in 1890 under the name “Sunset.” David E. Manning was the first settler.
It was a company town that was renamed in honor of William Garland, the contractor who constructed the Utah Sugar Company factory on the site in 1903.
Honeyville, Utah
Honeyville was founded in 1861 when a ferry across the Bear River was built at this location. Anson Call established a sawmill in Honeyville the same year. Later in his life, he sold the mill to Abraham Hunsaker. The area was referred to as Hunsaker’s Mill until 1877, when it was formed as an LDS ward named Honeyville.
Perry, Utah
Orrin Porter Rockwell and his brother Merritt initially claimed land in the region now known as Perry in 1851, near what is now known as Porter Spring. They did, however, stake a claim to the land but did not construct a residence.
Tremonton, Utah
Although the first inhabitants arrived in 1888, the Tremonton area remained mainly unoccupied until before 1900, when land agents began marketing the Bear River Valley as a relocation destination for Midwestern farmers. Beginning in 1898, small groups from Nebraska and Illinois started coming.
Willard, Utah
Henry G. Sherwood surveyed North Willow Creek in 1851. In 1859, the town was renamed Willard after Willard Richards, a recently dead Apostle of the LDS Church and counselor to Brigham Young. Willard was incorporated as a city in 1870.
Elwood, Utah
od is located in the Bear River Valley in eastern Box Elder County. The Bear River forms part of the town’s eastern border, while the Malad River forms part of its western border. To the east are the towns of Deweyville and Honeyville, while to the northwest is the city of Tremonton.
